NOTE: This is just ONE True Story of MANY True Stories - but this made me finally to be silent No More - Now just wait - I will tell the rest soon - until then - here is what happened to my friend, just yesterday........
Reason #1:
St. Patty`s Day - place is packed - it is an Irish Pub after all in the heart of Belmont Shore off of 2nd st - you are a bartender - you are working hard - you are ringing up tons of ticket orders with your name on it because you are the one serving them and it goes on your tax record to claim the taxes of the percent of bill for the assumed tip - you are putting up with a lot of crap and hard work - one bartender quit - probably for a great reason - you kind of wish you were her - but can`t think of that now - now you have to work harder because now you are one bartender short and you have thirsty customers- but that nice bit of tip cash at the end of your long shift is going to make it all better.
Finally the end of the night comes - time to total out your draw - time to calculate your Credit Card Tips - but wait, the owner of the bar decides to take your draw and calculate himself. He tells you that your tips will be waiting for you in the Morning. You are confused, this is NOT protocol, Your Name is on those tickets, You are responsible for them -it is You who has to claim that total on your Tax records each Year - besides, you were looking forward to the rush of excitement from counting your tips to validate all your hard work from that night. However, you go alone with what the owners says, after all what other options do you have. You go home and come claim what you earned the Next Day.
The next day, you go into your Work. The place you have worked at for many years, you have even worked there longer then the owners, your bosses now. Your Boss hands you an envelope that he says has your tips from that very busy long St. Patty`s Day, the Day that all the Bars are packed and All the servers and Bartenders look forward to because of the High Volume of People mean High Volume Tips. You excitedly Rip open that envelope - you look inside and grab the $17.82- inside!!!! Wait, Whaaaaat........$17.82.......seventeen dollars and PENNIES, YES PENNIES???????? No Wait, there must be some sort of mistake. You ask your boss what happened, where is my Money, where is the Money I earned....where is the Money that I will be taxed on at the End of the Year, the Money I was looking forward to and earned honestly....that I worked Hard for??????? Where???? Where??? Where is it????
You boss explains that he split your tips with the cook, his sister who helped out serving jello shots, the bar patron that does a few favors for beer, etc.....and then gives you this story that maybe the bartender that got fired might owe you some money!!! What, is this YOUR BOSS telling you this? Does he KNOW HOW ILLEGAL THIS IS??? Not Only is it ILLEGAL, It is Also IMMORAL and Completely Wrong....it is down right THEFT!!!! This is it, you put up with so much crap for way to long, so many other stories to tell about this place. We have been quiet for way to long - this is it - you quit, goodbye!! You get a Lawyer because not only is it wrong, it is so illegal. You actually probably paid more in taxes from the drink tally that you have to claim to the IRS so that they can tax you on 7% off that total because the IRS Taxes servers on their Tips, Hellooooooooo!!!!! Shame, Shame, Shame on that Family Owned Business - But this time they just screwed themselves just like they do their Regular patrons & workers. The silver lining is you quit and was not fired. You are a great Bartender and you will find a better place to work and Now the world will know the Evil of this Evil Place!!!!!

I would give this bar Zero stars if it was an option!!
Despite being aware of the owners poor ability to manage this bar, I have been going here for years, but the last straw was St. Patrick's Day. The only good thing about this bar NOW, is the bartenders! It's too bad they are treated like trash by the owner!
Just an explanation of Jason (owner) character:
Food: Takes FOREVER !! ... because HE is the cook and HE wants to finish up
His food before he begins to cook a customers. Special orders are
A nuisance
Environment: Owner won't accommodate ANY customers (including regulars).
Don't bother going in to watch a game....he won't put on volume.
The music choice, is what he wants to be played, no requests
If your having "too much fun", your kicked out.
Being a Regular at every bar and restaurant is appreciated, as these are the people that help keep the place in business. But, at Quinn's, regulars are frowned upon and treated second best. I live down the street so the convenance and bartenders are what have kept me going.
Everyone who frequents this bar talks about just trying to block Jason and this woman out,( i think its his mom) , out. But it is hard when she's glaring and he's being disrespectful and obnoxious.
Since he has become owner, he has lost a lot of regulars (but he doesn't care).
ST. PATRICK'S DAY.... Was a disaster!!! A bartender dramatically got fired for no reason in front of everyone, everyone was shocked at the level of professionalism that was displayed!
There are so many other bars on 2nd to go to, don't go here. OR go in and ask for a simple request or special food order, volume on the tv, change music station, and before you get kicked out for drinking and having fun.....Evaluate him yourself!
He should be put out of business!

I have worked on 2nd Street for the last 16 months and have been supporting Quinn's since.. Today I have never felt more DISRESPECTED than Jason (the owner/cook) made me feel today! My girlfriend & I meet there, for lunch, about 3-4 times a month for his burgers because they are sooooo yummy, but more so for the awesome server/bartender, who is not only extremely knowledgeable in the various beers, knows how to keep, patrons, like myself, from ripping her boss apart.
It's Friday, the sign says OPEN at 12pm. We get there at 12pm, not only is the door still locked, Jason sees us and puts his hand up, signalling us to hold on. Right there we should have turned and walked, but we didn't. Well, we not only wait outside for another 5 minutes, once we get in there, on a positive note, our server got us our drinks right away, yet, Jason (the COOK) is sitting there still writing the beer menu COMPLAINING about how he is soooo far behind. HELLOOOOO, what happened to the customer service?!? I have been supporting Quinn's for over a year now & Jason is FULLY aware that I have only 1 hour for my break, yet proceeds, for the next 30 minutes, continuing writing the beer menu, without even turning the grill on, after I asked if it was working & he assured me it was. So at that point we just ordered and easy appetizer, that would take 5 minutes to deep fry (I know because I work at a restaurant). 20 minutes later, still NO food, we cancel the food order, since we wouldn't have time to eat, I overhear him tell the server, after she tells him that we don't have time to eat because we have to go back to work, "well it's ready now, I'll just eat it then" (with a full on attitude towards, like it was her fault).
I am a BIG supporter of Local business owners, but will NEVER ever go, nor bring anyone, into that place again! And, honestly, I have to admit, I really am sad about that. But I will not support someone who DISRESPECTS the hand that feeds him! Would you?

The owners called cops on a guy that lives across the street because he and his friends were drinking on his house patio (and not in their bar). When the cops came, they just laughed and said 'Have a Nice Night'

Came for the Craft Beers - at 1st I was treated well - but the more I came in - the worse I was treated - the owners even had the nerve to ask me and my friends to get up from our seats to make room for the New people that were waiting for their Dinner table to be called from the restaurant next door!! They seem to cater more towards New People that have deep pockets. I have also seen the owners yell at the cook in the back who was really good friendly guy, hard worker and he made really tasty food. Since he quit the food went down hill and the wait time increased. I used to come to this place a lot and drop major coin - I was a regular and I brought other people in. After being treated disrespectful way to many times, I decided to not come in any more. I refuse to waste my hard earned money on a place that will treat me and others like that. There are way to many other Craft Beer pubs on 2nd street that have better food, better owners, better beer, better/cleaner atmosphere, and more important......treat you nice and that are happy to see you......after all why would you pay to be treated badly?

Me and my husband are regulars here. We supported this place. It was once a hang out for all of our friends and neighbors. It was once a very friendly place, good beer & food. Little by little, things changed, they started to decline. Some of our friends stopped coming in and would not join us if we would go here. That still did not stop us, we still came in, we went there more for the staff then the craft beer....after all you can get beer anywhere, what makes a place is the people inside. The bartenders were awesome, the guy cooking in the back was friendly and made great food.
As time went on, bartenders either quit or were fired....as well as that amazing cook. We still came in to give them a chance......but every time we came in we were disappointed. The food was not as good. The servers were different. Most of our friends stopped coming. The owners would over look us and tend to the New people. We felt disrespected and taken for granted. It is a shame after all, I grew up in this town, I spend a lot of time and money on 2nd street.....I love this town.....in my opinion, this place does not represent this town any longer. To bad, it was once a Nice place.

Got there 20 min early and they saw us waiting. They opened 10 minutes late. Keep in mind this place opens for lunch at NOON!
Told we would have to wait 10 min for the grill to heat up. No offer of a drink or anything.
Ordered two $8.50 burger beer fry specials. 37 minutes later they showed up.
The grilled onions are normally caramelized with Guinness beer. Not this time.
The place was once worth the 26 miles I drove. Not any longer.
Why? The owner opened the chilled glass cooler to find a to go order from the night before. The smell of that food was almost instant and I was 15 feet away. There was a health department sign on the front glass for EXACTLY that infraction; improper food storage. Now I understand why my beer glass smelled like onions.
The bathroom is best described as a Petrie dish. The walls are supposed to be white and are freaking nasty. The piss soaked seat and toilet was yellow with crystalized urine. The doorways throughout the place are covered with nasty hand prints from the kitchen. The sad part was the bathrooms were just cleaned.
Suggestions for the owner. Close for a day or hire a professional cleaning crew and sanitize the whole place from top to bottom.
Remove all the cheap paper special signage and make a new menu with them. Your burger special is worth $10-12 dollars easy if you add more fries and gourmet pickles. Raise your prices!
Improve professional appearance by being in a uniform of some kind and ready on time and open an hour earlier. You have mega potential to be the best burger pub in so cal. Bar tender was kind, observant and lovely.
One star for your lack of professionalism and the nasty bathroom. The owner was the weakest link. It did not go unnoticed.

This is the worst bar on 2nd st I would go to Shannon's over this place and Shannon's smells like puke. I was meeting my friends and husband here one night and all my friends were sitting at the bar but there weren't anymore bar stools so I grabbed one from one of the empty tables. All the tables were empty everyone was at the bar so I didn't think it was a big deal. Next thing I know the owner comes up to me and says I can't have that stool and I need to put it back that me and my friends can move and sit at one of the tables. I was thinking wow that's really ridiculous but I said that's ok I will just stand. One of my friends says I can use his seat so I take it and next thing I see I look over where one of my girlfriends is standing and the owner gives her a stool from one of the empty tables so she doesn't have to stand!! Me and my friends were in absolute shock this owner is bad for business she doesn't know how to treat her paying customers the locals are what keep these little mom n pop businesses open and for her to be bipolar with the locals doesn't help I have lived here for 7 years here in the shore and I will never recommend this place I will tell them to avoid it unless they want to be treated like they don't matter. The bartender was very nice but the owner is no bueno she should stay in the back and do paper work. My husband also put up a review about this place because he recently had yet another bad experience with the owner and the review has mysteriously disappeared people don't waste your time go to Murphy's if you're looking for a good variety of beer and a good sandwich. it's funny how bad reviews seem to just disappear from Jason's Yelp reviews.
I explained the awful & disrespectful experience I last had @ this establishment in my previous Yelp review.
Instead of him doing the right thing and @ least try to apologize, he just ranted on how it was an only case scenario.
When I keep reading similar reviews on similar occurrences that I went through.
Not to mention this all took place in front of my GF & my guests that I had just recommend Quinn's too.
I'm making it a point to keep checking this page because I've never received such disrespecting service EVER in Long Beach.

Improve professional appearance by being in a uniform of some kind and ready on time and open an hour earlier. You have mega potential to be the best burger pub in so cal. Bar tender was kind, observant and lovely.

Yep - as predicted - this Yelp post below was deleted as well (3nd time to the same poster) - Seems the owners of Quinn`s keep calling Yelp to delete bad post. I wonder if they pay for that? If so, that is AWESOME -let them spend their money!! Here is the message from yelp to Stacy B:

Unbelievable Jason, having yelp erase reviews again! There goes three reviews in the past three weeks that have been erased! Guarentee this will be erased.
You don't want everyone to know how disrespectful you are to customers and your regulars?

This is the worst bar on 2nd st I would go to Shannon's over this place and Shannon's smells like puke. I was meeting my friends and husband here one night and all my friends were sitting at the bar but there weren't anymore bar stools so I grabbed one from one of the empty tables. All the tables were empty everyone was at the bar so I didn't think it was a big deal. Next thing I know the owner comes up to me and says I can't have that stool and I need to put it back that me and my friends can move and sit at one of the tables. I was thinking wow that's really ridiculous but I said that's ok I will just stand. One of my friends says I can use his seat so I take it and next thing I see I look over where one of my girlfriends is standing and the owner gives her a stool from one of the empty tables so she doesn't have to stand!! Me and my friends were in absolute shock this owner is bad for business she doesn't know how to treat her paying customers the locals are what keep these little mom n pop businesses open and for her to be bipolar with the locals doesn't help I have lived here for 7 years here in the shore and I will never recommend this place I will tell them to avoid it unless they want to be treated like they don't matter. The bartender was very nice but the owner is no bueno she should stay in the back and do paper work. My husband also put up a review about this place because he recently had yet another bad experience with the owner and the review has mysteriously disappeared people don't waste your time go to Murphy's if you're looking for a good variety of beer and a good sandwich. Beer just wasn't cold.And the service was horrible.The bartender waited until commercial to even acknowledge me.God forbid I interrupt MadTV.Because MadTV is sooo funny.I'd excuse the lack of attention if the beer was cold and in clean glassware...that's why I'm here,but even that was too much to ask.One star is a gift. -

This would've been a really cool pub to hang out and enjoy. Gotta say everything is pretty darn good except for the owner's wife and 5 month old child who turned a nice pub into a nursery. They've got lots of big screen TVs to watch n hang out w buds if you can hear them over the wife chatting w the bar waitress from across the pub and the baby fussing. In my opinion pubs shouldn't be nurseries and nurseries shouldn't be pubs. I could've stayed home and listened to the same annoying stuff. -

Got there 20 min early and they saw us waiting. They opened 10 minutes late. Keep in mind this place opens for lunch at NOON!
Told we would have to wait 10 min for the grill to heat up. No offer of a drink or anything.
Ordered two $8.50 burger beer fry specials. 37 minutes later they showed up.
The grilled onions are normally caramelized with Guinness beer. Not this time.
The place was once worth the 26 miles I drove. Not any longer.
Why? The owner opened the chilled glass cooler to find a to go order from the night before. The smell of that food was almost instant and I was 15 feet away. There was a health department sign on the front glass for EXACTLY that infraction; improper food storage. Now I understand why my beer glass smelled like onions.
The bathroom is best described as a Petrie dish. The walls are supposed to be white and are freaking nasty. The piss soaked seat and toilet was yellow with crystalized urine. The doorways throughout the place are covered with nasty hand prints from the kitchen. The sad part was the bathrooms were just cleaned.

Rude bartender, mediocre food, rough crowd. If it weren't for the foot traffic rolling in off of 2nd street, this joint would be in serious trouble.

Walking around 2nd St. after dinner at George's Greek Cafe and looking for a place for an after dinner drink. Noticed Quinn's off the main drag on Nieto, and an Irish coffee sounded perfect. Go inside, sit down, order the Irish and then were told "only beer & wine" here. Ordered a Newcastle, but it wasn't quite what we were looking for. And the music that was at top volume made me want to get out of there even faster. Irish music? I only wish, it was loud techno pop and even Bon Jovi, help me please! It was always one of those "got to go in there sometime" places, and now that I did, I don't have to go back. Sorry Quinn's, maybe I just caught you on a bad night! -

No no no no....this place has only one thing redeeming about it (thus the 2 star rating) and that's my friend Kelly. She [somehow] got sucked into working here on Tuesday nights. I really don't know why and sometimes still question her judgment, but she keeps this shift so I often visit her. I usually pre-drink at home (as this is a beer/wine ONLY bar and I'm not a big beer drinker) and then ride my bike over to sip on a pint & keep her company. They have a decent selection of beer but really, unless your there to visit Kelly, there's no reason to go in. -

All these years living in Belmont Shore and not until last night have I ever stepped foot into Quinn's. Weeeeeeeeeell...I haven't really missed much, have I? There are good imports on draft, and it is a cool LITTLE bar, I guess- but the bartender was kinda snotty (think antithesis of friendly) and they close early (10pm Thursday night.) I don't know...I guess if your in the mood to be incognito- and want a small, virtually empty place for a drink w/o friendly service this is the place for you.
